A MOTORCYCLIST has died after being in collision with a car on a rural Hampshire road.

The B2177 Winchester Road heading into Waltham Chase, between Wickham and Bishop’s Waltham, was closed for several hours as police carried out a detailed examination of the scene.

Police were called at about 1.45pm today after the motorcycle was in collision with a BMW car.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 23-year-old woman driving the car was treated for shock, but was not injured.

Road closures were in place between Paradise Lane and Clewers Hill, but the road re-opened at about 6.30pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles driving prior to it to contact Inspector Steve Wakeford the Fratton Roads Policing unit on 101 quoting Operation Betula.
