THERE’S still time to apply to host a street party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Portsmouth City Council has approved 47 applications for traditional street parties to mark the occasion and it will cover the cost of insurance and road closures.
Residents in the city have until April 30 to apply, but will need to cover these costs themselves as the deadline for funding has passed.
Heather Todd, the council’s assistant events manager said: ‘We know people are keen to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, so although the deadline for applications for street parties supported by the council has passed, residents can still apply to hold a party by completing an event application form.
‘However they would need to cover the cost of their own public liability insurance and road closure as we’ve allocated our events budget.’
For an application form, call (023) 9284 1400.
Residents in Gosport hoping to have a street party only have until 5pm today to apply by calling (023) 9254 5305.
Neighbours in Havant have until May 11 and can apply at havant.gov.uk. The deadline in Fareham has passed.
