FILM lovers in Portsmouth can enjoy a number of movies on the big screen throughout September.

Portsmouth Film Society will kick off its screening with a showing of Shorts Cut 12, part of the Local Short Film Festival, at 7pm on September 6.

It will take place in the Omega Centre, Somers Town.

This will be followed by a screening of 97 per cent Owned, on September 11, also in the Omega Centre.

Written and produced by Mike Horwath, and directed and edited by Michael Oswald, 97 per cent Owned is a documentary focusing on the economic group with the same name.

The next instalment from the film society will be thriller, Martha Marcy May Marline, screened in the New Theatre Royal. It was directed by Sean Durkin, and stars Elizabeth Olsen, Sarah Paulson and John Hawkes. For more, see portsmouthfilmsociety.org.uk
