MP lends a hand at beach clean

AN MP has praised '˜anti-litter heroes' for their role in keeping a beach clean during an annual litter-pick on Saturday.

Caroline Dinenage, Gosport MP, headed out with The Friends of Stokes Bay, a team from Gomer Juniors, councillors and other volunteers to clean Stokes Bay as part of The Great British Spring Clean.

The event was part of many taking place nationwide as hundreds of thousands of people grabbed scoured their area to pick up litter.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic event that really encourages residents to make a difference to their local communities.

‘Litter is an unsightly addition to our neighbourhoods and picking it up
costs taxpayers millions of pounds every year, that’s why I am glad to lend my support to such an important initiative.

‘I am thrilled to see Gosport residents taking a pro-active approach to litter with regular litter-picks and action groups already doing a fantastic job to keep Gosport tidy.’
