A MOTHER and son escaped after a fire started in their Chichester home.

The blaze started in the bedroom of the house in First Avenue, and although contained in the room, did spread slightly.

Two crews from Havant, two from Emsworth and one from Chichester were called out at 5.30pm yesterday.

Eight firefighters went into the house and the fire was out by 7.30pm.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
