Museum cafe wins award

‘UK needs to boost its budget for the military’

THE Royal Marines Museum in Eastney has won a prestigious hospitality award for the food and drink served at its Quartermaster's Kitchen.

The cafe at the museum on the seafront scooped a Hampshire Hospitality Award, which celebrates the best places to eat in the county.

Owner Zillah Leaning said: 'We are delighted to have won this award as recognition of the great food and service we provide to our customers. At the Quartermaster's Kitchen our aim is to offer diners great quality food, using local fresh ingredients cooked to order and service in what we feel is the best location in Southsea.'

Assessors from Quality in Tourism undertook a mystery shop at hundreds of Hampshire businesses and awarded successful entrants with awards.

The cafe is open to the public during museum opening hours, seven days a week, from 10am to 5pm.

Visitors can enjoy light lunches, cream teas or just have a coffee.

Car parking is available and visitors to the cafe have no obligation to visit the museum.
