AN AWARD-winning museum is opening its doors for free as an early Christmas present for residents.

Explosion!, the Museum of Naval Firepower at Priddy’s Hard, Gosport, has organised a host of activities for the family after the schools break up.

And as a gesture of seasonal goodwill, it will be free for Gosport residents from December 17 until Christmas Eve.

There will be lots of family fun and activities in and around the main museum, including ‘finding the reindeer’ and Christmas card making.

All residents have to do is bring along a council tax or utility bill with their Gosport address or postcode to claim their free tickets.

Before that, on December 11 at 3pm, the museum will host a traditional carol concert featuring the Gospel Phonics and St John’s Primary School choir.

Visitors can enjoy mince pies and mulled wine in the museum coffee shop, followed by Christmas carols in the Grand Magazine. Tickets include entry to the museum from 2pm.

From December 17 the museum will open at 10am and close at 4pm, apart from Christmas Eve when it will shut at 1pm.
