LIVE music is set to go down a storm with punters at a charity night at The Hampshire Rose.

Portsmouth rockers The Scandal and acoustic act Ninety Nine will perform at the pub on London Road, in Widley, on Saturday, January 28.

Tickets cost £5 and all proceeds from the evening, which is being billed as ‘The Richard Hollington Music Night 2012’ will go towards armed forces charity Help For Heroes.

The pub is dedicating the evening to Royal Marine Richard Hollington because he was a friend of Jake Barnes, the son of Hampshire Rose landlady Rebecca Lambert.

Richard died following a bomb explosion while on patrol in the Sangin district of Helmand province, Afghanistan, in June 2010. Last year the pub raised more than £2,000 for the charity from a live music night.

Ms Lambert said: ‘It should be a really good evening. People should expect the atmosphere and the music to be great. It’s all about raising money for an excellent cause.

‘As a pub we really strive to be an active part of the community.’

The event will start at 7pm. Tickets on (023) 9238 6915.
