AMATEUR musicians have donated more than £2,000 to a support centre for people with cancer.

The Stokes Bay Strummers, from Gosport, handed over £2,113 to the Harbour Cancer Support Centre, in South Street.

They have raised the money over the last nine months from gigs they have performed.

Richard Graham, the chairman of the trustees at the centre, said: ‘As a small independent charity that relies entirely on fundraising and donations, Harbour Cancer Support Centre really appreciates this kind of local support.

‘We would like to thank the Stokes Bay Strummers for their generous donation.’

The Stokes Bay Strummers will be supporting the centre in their fundraising efforts until December, when they will choose another charity to support for a year.

The Harbour Cancer Support Centre offers help to people with cancer and their families and friends.
