CURRY lovers have been doing their bit for charity thanks to a generous takeaway owner.

For the past three years Abu Suyeb has given a night’s takings at the Gandhi Takeaway in Anjou Crescent, Fareham, to the Mayor of Fareham’s charities.

As a result the fund, which will be split between the Rainbow Centre, Global Voices and Toe in the Water at the end of his year in office, is £552.05 better off.

The mayor, Cllr Brian Bayford, popped along at the start of the evening to sample the spicy delights on offer.

Mr Suyeb said: ‘I’m proud to say we raised a whopping amount for the mayor’s charities, we had quite a busy evening.

‘I hope we can carry on supporting the mayor in future.’
