A NEW cycle track which will provide a link across a town is due to open.

The £130,000 Warblington cycle track will link Southleigh Road and New Lane in Havant.

It is the latest addition of the National Cycle Route 2 between Kent and Cornwall and will also offer an alternative route between Havant and Emsworth, avoiding Emsworth Road.

The cycle track will connect at its west end into the existing Hayling Billy Trail and the Shipwrights Way routes.

The 445-metre cycle track will run along the northern boundary of Warblington School, mostly alongside the railway track and will have street lighting.

Work was carried out by Caroway, and is a partnership between Havant Borough Council and Hampshire County Council’s Highways, Education and Estates teams.
