A NEW minister has been elected to the Buckland United Reformed Church, in Kingston Road, Portsmouth.

Revd Cliff Bembridge was welcomed into the church at the same time as it became part of a new pastorate, working together with IBEX – an organisation which works on behalf of the local churches on world and economic matters.

Revd Bembridge has been called to Buckland URC to help the congregation redevelop their buildings and increase their activity in the community. His other role as IBEX’s church in the community officer for the south coast, will see him work with churches in the city who wish to strengthen their links with local people and organisations.

He said: ‘I come with a great sense of excitement and hope, and very much look forward to working in Portsmouth.’
