A SERIES of talks is set to take place in Gosport exploring historic submarine accidents.

The Royal Navy Submarine Museum will host the talks which will begin at 7pm next Thursday.

Underwater rescue expert Dickie Burston will host the first talk, which will help to raise money for the Save HMS Alliance fund.

Mr Burston said: ‘There is no single tragedy that captures public attention quite like a submarine accident.

‘My research will cover historical submarine accidents and their rescue attempts over the last 75 years.’

Bill Sainsbury, event manager at the museum, said: ‘From underwater rescue, conflict and training, these accounts are real and personal.’

The talks take place on the third Thursday of every month. The next one will take place on Thursday, May 17.

Tickets are £8 and discounts are available for members of the Submarine Association and Friends of the Submarine Museum.
