The New Theatre Royal will launch its first term of workshops later this month.

The theatre’s youth programme will start on September 19, offering children over the age of five the opportunity to take part in weekly workshops at the new Minghella Studio.

Children will have the opportunity to learn skills from top professionals in the industry.

The aim of the workshops is to get people of all ages involved, giving them the chance to perform in the main house of the theatre in the Christmas revue.

The theatre group will also offer free taster sessions in the Guildhall, from Saturday until Tuesday.

Creative learning manager, Nic Williams said: ‘Our youth theatre programme is designed to give children the chance to enhance their skills both on and off-stage.

‘The workshops have been provided to help boost children’s confidence and make new friends at the same time.’
