Dan Harman, pastor of City Life Church, Copnor, talks about the exciting new plans for the church

On top of a lot of new people joining the church, we were very grateful to host a group of 32 talented architecture students from the University of Portsmouth recently who came in to interpret our vision for further growth and expansion.

Lots of inspiring ideas were proposed with the aim of helping us maximise our facility. Next year building work will begin on completely revamping the children’s facilities which will also be used for a nursery during the week and evening groups.

Work will also start on developing a new media, sound and lighting centre, which will be used for video and sound production, as well as become the new home of churchonline.myclc.org.uk – an alternative way to connect with the church from the comfort of your own home.

Upon completion of these projects we will be moving ahead with plans to put a glass front on the church which will provide an attractive community hub with free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities.

This month, thanks to the generous donations of the friends and members of CLC, we are looking forward to delivering Christmas hampers to families in need across our city.

It’s a simple gesture to express our faith and demonstrate God’s love in a practical way.

We will be hosting our popular annual carol service on Sunday. We are blessed to welcome the Westover Primary School Choir who will be singing as part of the 4pm service and then we have Langstone Junior School Choir at the later option of 6pm.

Then our one-hour Christmas Day service will be on the Friday at 10am. If you’re not already attending a service, why not come and join us?

Looking ahead to the new Yyar, we will be hosting a 24/7 week of prayer and fasting beginning on Sunday, January 3 at 6pm, which will focus on praying for our city and nation.

We will also be launching our park and ride initiative and a job club in partnership with Christians Against Poverty with the aim to help as many people as possible get back into work.

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and blessed 2016.
