NOMINATIONS are being sought for the citizen of honour awards this year.

Fareham Borough Council is also looking for the Young Citizen 2011 and the closing date for nominations is Friday, January 28.

Councillor Sean Woodward, executive leader of the council, said: 'I'd like to encourage the public to nominate residents of Fareham that may be helping others, the community or may have shown an act of bravery.'

The Young Citizen of the Year, for children aged between four and 11, celebrates an outstanding act of bravery, a regular selfless act for others, or for overcoming and learning to adapt to a registered disability.

The Young Citizen of the Year for youngsters between 12 and 18 is in recognition of community and voluntary service which benefits the local community.

Nominations can also be received for the Citizen of Honour, for adults.
