THE winner of last year’s Costa Book of the Year award will visit Mayville High School in Southsea to host a writing workshop.

Frances Hardinge, who won the award for her novel The Lie Tree, will be at the school on Tuesday.

Headteacher Rebecca Parkyn said the visit would launch the school’s magic-themed book week.

Ms Parkyn said: ‘It will be such an exciting experience for the pupils to meet an author of such distinction who has won many awards for her novels and short stories.

‘We are very fortunate that she is able to join us and enthuse the next generation of writers. Book week at Mayville is always a very special time and this year’s themed programme promises to be inspiring and enjoyable.’
