IF YOU can reel off the names of all of Santa’s reindeer then a garden centre may have the ideal job on offer.
Garsons in Titchfield wants a full-time reindeer carer to walk two adult animals over the Christmas season.
Ben Thompson, a director at the firm, said a couple of people could be employed.
He said: ‘It’s a bit more unusual than your average Christmas temp job.
‘It’s going to be a magical experience.
‘We need some quite special staff to help us.’
The animals will form the centrepiece of the garden centre’s Christmas efforts.
Lucky applicants to the job will walk the reindeer in a paddock, feed them and introduce customers to them.
Ben added: ‘We’re looking for someone who’s particularly friendly with animals and customer-minded.
‘We will give training in terms of the animal care.
‘We’re known for Christmas time, for our trees and decorations but from last year we went the whole way and had the reindeer as well.’
He added that between 15,000 and 20,000 people visited the garden centre’s two branches during the season last year.
The animals are being hired from a specialist farm in Reading and will be fully looked after.
Staff who take on the role will go to the farm and get animal welfare training.
The application for the job closes on Friday.
Successful applicants will work between November 17 and Christmas Eve. Enough staff are needed to provide cover seven days a week.
Previous animal-handling experience is not required but is advantageous.
