IF YOUR bicycle is poorly, then make a trip to the ‘bike doctors’ for a quick repair.

A team of experienced bike mechanics, who are in Guildhall Square each week, can check things like wheels, gears, brakes and lights.

They can also make minor adjustments or basic repairs if it can be done, or give you a quote for bigger repair works.

The initiative is part of the ‘My Journey Portsmouth’ travel campaign, which aims to encourage people to move away from using their cars and choose to walk, cycle, use public transport or car share on some or all of their journeys.

The scheme is run by Portsmouth City Council.

Craig Lamberton, influencing travel behaviour officer, said: ‘Portsmouth is a great city to cycle in; it’s flat, compact and has some lovely scenic rides along the coast.

‘We want as many people as possible to enjoy the benefits of cycling and make it easier for those who already cycle in the city.’

The Bike Doctors will be in Guildhall Square every Thursday, from 11am to 2pm.
