FIREFIGHTERS are offering child car seat checks after tests revealed one in five are not properly fitted.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service say 43 per cent of the seats they checked last year were not fitted tightly enough.

Now they are holding free checks at Sainsbury’s in Broadcut, Fareham on March 30.

A Hampshire Fire spokesman said: ‘It’s important that your child restraint fits well. It only takes a few minutes to complete but checking the fit of your child’s car seat regularly could save their life or protect them from serious injury.’

The event will run from 10am to 4pm.
