Elderly people have the chance to get online this spring thanks to a Portsmouth Age UK scheme.

The charity’s IT suite will be open from Monday to Friday next week as part of the Spring Online with Silver Surfers Day.

Older people can go to classes held twice daily at the Bradbury Centre in Kingston Road during the campaign.

They will be held at 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm every week day.

The scheme – which is in its 11th year – is delivered by Digital Unite.

It works with partners including the Department for Work and Pensions, BBC, UK online centres, Race Online 2012 and Age UK.

Martha Lane Fox, UK Digital champion, said: ‘Fantastic initiatives like Spring Online play a vital role in highlighting these benefits and helping us achieve the ambition of creating a truly networked UK.’
