A bit of ‘80s spirit is exactly what these Games need now

It’s been good to see the Olympic torch relay reignite at least one great British tradition – streaking.

Back in the ’80s, every rugby and football match came with the enticing possibility that someone might interrupt play and need to have their bits covered by a policeman’s helmet.

It was childish...but then a lot of what’s good in life is.

It looked a bit like we’d lost our ability to have fun when sports fans stopped vaulting over the barriers to make a show of themselves in this way.

So maybe the Olympic Games is the perfect opportunity to reinstate the art of streaking?

And security company G4S have made such a hash of arrangements that the exhibitionists out there might yet get their moment to shine.
