A day at Ascot - and I had five minutes to get ready!

Did you have a good Christmas?

I hope you and all your family and friends had a fun-filled, healthy and happy holiday.

Ours was manic right from when we arrived back home in Pompey after our trip to New York.

We went to see the horse racing at Ascot with the Meon Milton football club – at last, I’m a WAG even if it’s only a honorary one!

It was such a fabulous day and although we were shattered it really was the perfect way to kick off the festivities.

But the day began badly. Let me explain.

We were told the coach was picking everyone up from Cosham high street at 9am, so I set my alarm for what I thought was 7.30am.

I texted my friend Laura at what I thought was 8.15am informing her that we were getting ready and wouldn’t be late.

She replied: ‘You already are chick, we’re on the coach.’

When I looked at my clock, I realised to my horror that I had set the alarm an hour later and we had literally got five minutes to get ready.

This was for Ascot I might add, not exactly a place you can ‘dress down’.

What made it even worse was that, because we were late, the coach full of footie players and their other halves had to come and pick us up outside our house!

Can you imagine what it was like getting on a coach full of young lads, who had already started drinking, when you’re not even part of the club and somehow got a personal pick-up?

To be fair they all took it extremely well, even if we did get it in the neck all day.

But we weren’t as bad as Aaron who, on the way back from Ascot and on the way out for an evening meal, had the cheek to asked the coach driver to stop at his house in Highbury so that he could feed the cats!

Fifteen minutes later the cats had got their meal, but Aaron emerged with a new shirt and a new hairdo.

The vain so-and-so had been sprucing his quiff!

Boy did I give him stick – I got ready for Ascot faster than that.

I wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Here’s to 2015!
