At one time, there was a plan to build a state-of-the-art 60,000-seat football stadium there.
But now something more realistic will be happening to The Hard, a new bus station.
Hurrah! At last.
With so many people arriving here to explore the delights of the city, the interchange is a real let-down.
It harks back to Portsmouth’s grim past, where the love of concrete had turned areas of the city into something akin to communist East Berlin.
But now this is about to change and the façade of the city will improve further.
I will miss the greasy spoon with a view.
However, I shall not miss being buffeted by wind and rain waiting for a taxi or bus.
Things continue to look up for our city.
