Now the storm has blown through, the press is asking if we overreacted? It was hardly Tony Blair and Weapons of Mass Destruction but I feel we got it right.

Imagine the headlines if a packed commuter train heading to London derailed at high speed after hitting a fallen tree? If a cross-channel ferry severely damaged a bow door or an aeroplane crash-landed at Gatwick?

Unfortunately, with the media needing to fill 24-hour news channels and websites, over-caution is the order of the day.

I think the media were expecting something along the lines of New Orleans devastation. This is something we will have to live with and take with a pinch of salt.
