I was delighted to be invited to attend the launch of the proposed first-ever Air Festival in Portsmouth, which is planned for next August on Southsea Common.
I reckon it could be the most exciting thing to happen here in a while – and it’s all because of a Pompey lad who loves aircraft.
As a child, Maurice Snowdon had a bedroom full of model aeroplanes and was a member of the Air Training Corps.
Now 57, Maurice dreams of having real Spitfires and jets doing magnificent aerobatic displays over the seafront and city.
I can’t wait. The festival will be a marvellous boost for the community and local businesses.
But best of all, charities stand to benefit enormously. Brilliant!
