If Pompey manage to survive their latest tribulations, fans will be remembering those who stood up to be counted when their help was most needed.
One such was Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt, who did everything she could to elicit support from the Prime Minister and even tried to make HMRC take a more sympathetic approach to the club’s problems.
Less impressive has been Mike Hancock, MP for Portsmouth South, whose ‘assistance’ seems to me to consist largely of sympathetic noises and mentions of his ‘life-long support’ for the club.
Now, more than ever, it is actions not words which will make the difference. And supporters will remember who did what when the club finally emerges from its latest financial cesspit.
