Big names are revealed - now bring on the summer!

Have you got your Victorious tickets yet? If you haven't, then the line-up of big names for this year's festival that we exclusively reveal today should make up your mind to book right away.

International rock acts Stereophonics and Elbow were already confirmed to headline the main Common Stage on Saturday and Sunday night respectively.

Now you can add in pop stars Olly Murs and Rita Ora, who will take the main slots on the Castle Field stages over the Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday festival.

Still not convinced? Well, festival organisers have also signed up cult indie rockers The Charlatans and legendary ska band Madness for a new Friday opening party night taking place across Castle Field.

Then there are Frank Turner, Echobelly, Feeder, Franz Ferdinand, KT Tunstall and a whole host of other artists.

It’s quite some bill and just underlines how far Victorious has come. Now it’s a genuine big player in the world of festivals and has the clout to attract top artists.

No wonder Victorious boss Andy Marsh is delighted. As he says: ‘These are really big names that perhaps we wouldn’t have been able to attract a few years ago.’

We agree. Olly Murs may be a very different headliner than last year’s Noel Gallagher, but it’s a real coup to get him to perform in Southsea.

Attracting pop stars to be part of Victorious will also give a welcome boost to the local economy. Last year Portsmouth benefited by £8.47m and this year’s figure should be higher if attendance figures continue an upward trend.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Victorious is a great addition to the city and we look forward to it growing and growing in years to come.

Bring on the summer!
