Dorothy ‘Babs’ Chamberlain celebrated her 100th birthday last month, with her three daughters and friends from St George’s Church, in Waterlooville.
As a member of the church, the guests at the gathering raised a glass to Babs, before she tucked into her birthday cake. She gave everyone a piece.
Originally born in Peckham, Babs moved to Southsea in 1936 where she met her husband. She then moved to Waterlooville in 1953.
The centenarian has been a member of St George’s Church since that time and has been attending services every week.
Babs, who also has a son living in Australia, was delighted to receive a card of congratulations from the Queen.
What’s the secret to her longevity?
Babs says: ‘Just be happy and surround yourself with happy people.’
