Blokes quite happy to pick up where they left off ages ago

CHERYL GIBBS: I’m scared at how a feeling of fear is now part of life

Have your say

One of the best things about being a bloke is that you can go for months or years without speaking to a friend and just pick up where you left off – no-one is upset or offended that you’re both slackers.

A pal from Denmead has been on his travels for the past 10-15 years. Occasionally our paths cross (Gibraltar, Canada, Fort Cumberland Pub at Eastney).

Knowing he’d finally sorted himself out online, I sent him an e-mail in September 2011 asking how his new life is going in Toronto.

He got back to me last week with the reply: ‘Good mate, you?’

That’s as much information as I need. I’ll be returning the same level of detail in my reply in 2016.
