I’m just in the process of launching a brand new business – it’s called Dad Cabs.
I had an inkling when I bought a diesel estate that it was going to have a slight resemblance to a taxi.
And, with the relentless pick-ups, drop-offs and ferrying around, I now have the workload of a cabbie.
Just in case I was a little confused about my role in this family, my daughter Molly now insists on us playing the ‘taxi game’.
It’s simple role play.
Every time we get in the car, she jumps in and calls me driver and then asks to be taken to a particular destination.
She’s even learned some in-taxi small talk – for example, ‘driver, have you been busy today?’
The weird thing is, she’s never actually been in a taxi.
I’m happy to play along though. Well, it does make journeys a bit more fun.
Besides, I can’t wait to see her face when she gets the bill at the end of the month.
