Here’s an idea. If you’re fed up with the way your council runs things, do us all a favour and get off your backside to vote on Thursday.
Shirkers will use all the usual excuses to try and wriggle out of it – ‘too busy’, ‘won’t make a difference’, ‘don’t know who to vote for’ – but voter apathy is one of the UK’s biggest character flaws.
Pre-election polls have already predicted this year’s local election turnout will hit an all-time low. Perhaps understandable if we were rolling around in a plentiful supply of jobs and spare cash.
But considering we’re in a bit of a pickle at the moment, there’s no excuse for letting your vote go to waste. And no right of reply if the future doesn’t work out how you planned it.
