Drama at the fireworks - and not all of it was in the air

VERITY LUSH: Yet another example of distasteful American influence sweeping the UK

Have your say

I’ve really enjoyed hosting several firework displays this year.

I had great fun at the Beaulieu one and last Wednesday I finished my radio show early and headed down to the King George V playing fields in Cosham for the big Portsmouth display.

Well, it turned out to be pretty dramatic – and not all because of the fireworks. There was a Lady Gaga tribute act on stage and one of her dancers managed to dislocate her shoulder whilst performing.

In agony, she sat at the side of the stage. Then a woman was carried from the crowd because she’d just fainted.

It was a frenzy of high-viz jackets and walkie-talkies as the highly professional Gaga carried on alone.
