Forget settling for ‘second best’, just follow your heart

BLAISE TAPP: 'Tis the season to be more giving to the lonely

Have your say

Apparently the average person will fall in love four times in their lifetime, a survey by Leeds-based theatre company Opera North has found.

Three-quarters of us will become besotted at least once by the time we turn 20 and a lucky 33 per cent will end up staying with their first true love.

But more than four in 10 will settle for ‘second best’ because the person they end up with isn’t the one they loved the most.

Personally speaking, I’m an old-fashioned girl at heart and the thought of settling for ‘seconds’ is a definite no-no with me.

If I’m going to settle down and spend my life with somebody, they have to be right at the top of the list.

All you single girlies out there, I say follow your heart.
