Forget the jams and consider whether we need new store

I’ve been watching the progress being made to build the new Tesco store in Fareham with interest.

Well, it’s hard not to when you spend at least an hour a day sitting on the flyover, trying to shoe-horn your car onto the A32 into Gosport like everyone else.

It’s tempting to blame the roadworks associated with this building project (and the ongoing diversions around Wych Lane) for the lengthy traffic delays we all sit in.

But I think the reality is it’s always busier when the kids go back to school – this year’s no different as far as I can see.

It’s not really the jams that draw my eye when I drive past the large hangar-like building tanyway. It’s the fact that we simply don’t need another supermarket that always crosses my mind.
