Poor Kate. As well as giving birth, she’s also had to deal with the knowledge that the world’s media have been ready and waiting to pounce.
It’s bad enough for us normal people when we’re in labour, with just family and friends – all well-meaning – asking how it’s going.
But imagine what it must be like to have the eyes of the whole planet on you.
All my three children were 14 days late – I obviously have a luxury womb – and I know what it’s like to carry in the heat (my first was a summer boy).
On top of that, the pushing went on for what felt like days.
That was hard enough. There’s no way I could have coped with knowing that the world was also talking about it for the entire time.
