Have your say

Sad scenes in Portsmouth this week as the aircraft carrier Ark Royal left our city for the final time, bound for Turkey to become tin cans and razor blades.

It’s a shame that, with her departure, there is negativity about the navy.

Don’t forget we’re replacing old with new. I can’t wait for the day when HMS Queen Elizabeth arrives.

She’ll blow us away with her sheer size. We can also be proud at the fact that large parts of this majestic new carrier are being built in Portsmouth.

So goodbye 210-metre Ark Royal. We’ll miss you, but we’re looking forward to greeting your 285-metre replacement in 2015.

Chin up everyone, things are not that bad!
