Why do most shoe shops only stock women’s footwear that could pass for an instrument of torture?
I wonder if it’s because most high-end shoe designers appear to be men and the high street now believes that’s the only way to go.
Look at all the big names in the industry – Louboutin, Choo, Blahnik – and what they’ve all got in common is the fact they don’t actually have to wear these ludicrously high creations.
I’m not that bothered if Victoria Beckham wants to cripple herself in a pair of six-inch stilettos but I am getting fed-up of having to decide between flat and frumpy or dangerously sky-high.
Not all of us want to go to work looking like a pole dancer.
