I was really disappointed with all the new telly shows over the weekend. The hype about The Voice, Titanic and the return of Britain’s Got Talent promised much but sadly delivered little.

The Voice seemed very staged and unrealistic. Were the judges acting? Did Tom Jones regret one of his decisions? BGT again produced more tears than slicing onions, but isn’t that what the show is about?

As for Titanic, the first episode hardly made me want more. Will we have to watch the great ship sink every week?

Characters and storylines as weak as those in Upstairs, Downstairs and recognising many actors from Ashes to Ashes didn’t help either.
