I was really thrilled when I read a friend’s Facebook status, which read: ‘I’m really proud of my son, he’s spent the whole day cooking a meal for the homeless shelter in Portsmouth.’
I contacted her to find out more and she told me that her son, 21-year-old chef Jordan Thompson, contacted the Mill House homeless shelter next to St Mary’s Hospital and offered to cook them all a festive Christmas dinner.
I was so warmed by this that I then got in touch with Jordan.
He said he’d trained at Highbury College for two years and that some students there had helped him to cook a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding.
How great that they used their skills to make a difference.
