So it’s been reported that Sharon Shoesmith, the head of Haringey children’s services during the Baby P scandal, has been awarded £679,000.

She claimed for unfair dismissal after she was sacked following a damning report into the 2007 death of Peter Connelly, known as Baby P.

I think the payout is an absolute disgrace.

It really is unbelievable. She was earning £133,000 a year. If you earn that much you should expect to be held accountable when the proverbial hits the fan.

If not, then don’t take the big job.

Yes, there were others who failed.

But at the end of the day, the buck should stop with her.

Now it’s the taxpayer who has to fork out.
