I’ve been really enjoying watching the Commonwealth Games, more than I thought I would.
I was a big fan of the London 2012 Olympics, which provided possibly the best summer atmosphere I’ve ever experienced in Britain.
But so many of my Team GB heroes were not able to get to Glasgow through injury, retirement or other commitments and I didn’t think I’d be so invested in it.
How wrong I was. Sure, it was fantastic to see Greg Rutherford win a Commonwealth gold to add to his Olympic bling and fabulous to watch David Weir win the T54 1,500m event.
But now I have a new set of heroes – the gymnasts, the swimmers, the lawn bowlers and the table tennis players.
It has been outstanding to watch them.
