I’ve really been enjoying the series on the 1970s being shown on BBC2.
I was born in the ’70s, but only remember The Muppets and Swap Shop! Everything else passed me by.
It’s been fascinating to see how at that time we were beginning to realise we were no longer a world power.
The government of the day was just throwing Polyfilla at massive cracks as we wanted more out of life.
The ’80s were a massive upheaval for us, but moved us away from heavy industry and into the capital world which, along with North Sea oil, is where we made our money.
All fascinating stuff, but I wonder how our kids will look back on this decade in years to come?
