If they just tidied their rooms they’d have plenty of space

RICK JACKSON: Why aren’t we on the streets protesting about Brexit?

Have your say

It’s not often that I find my children watching a TV show that fills me with horror. But I Want A Room Of My Own is one that does.

It’s one of CBBC’s creations which basically gives children space of their own in a house.

That might be building a shed as a chill-out area in the back garden, or converting a junk room to a bedroom.

In theory it’s fine, but the fact is my children now can’t see the problem with giving the spare room to them and turning it into a climbing wall-cum-movie theatre, painted in a swathe of extremely lurid colours.

What galls me most of all is that my kids have no concept of the fact that, if they just tidied their existing rooms, they’d suddenly have plenty of space for all their wonderful plans.
