Now it’s all over, it’s time to take stock about how we feel about storms and the internet.

In 1987 we all went to bed none the wiser and woke up in the terrible aftermath.

It was a great and frightening discovery.

Twenty-six years later, and the nation sat glued to the internet, and the telly, and other channels of communication in great crisis and worry waiting for the worst to hit.

All this did was extend the pain which turned out not to be anywhere near as bad as predicted.

Which is better?

I vote for the pre-internet era as although forewarned is forearmed, we were also not bored to tears by all the media speculation and pictures of a few felled trees the following day.
