Infrastructure of the club is vital for its long-term future

VERITY LUSH: I can’t get my head around the general fakeness today

Have your say

It’s hard to believe, given the tens of millions of pounds that have been and gone at Pompey, that the club has never had its own proper training facility.

When they hoisted the FA Cup aloft in 2008, or when they were promoted to the Premier League, no-one had the foresight to think ‘hang on, we’ve just got £30m for promotion, maybe we could/should invest a little in the future of the club’

That speaks volumes, really.

The new training facility (where many of us used to play grass court tennis at the Civil Service Club) is a real boost for the players and management, but also a clear statement from those in charge.

The infrastructure of the club is vital for its survival, development and future.
