How wonderful that two of Portsmouth’s ships have been sent to help in the Philippines.
It makes me feel very proud of our island city when our ships are sent to help out whenever there are people in trouble.
And I can’t think of a better task for them than to help all those in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Thousands of people have already lost their lives and scores more have lost their homes, possessions and family members.
A nation is grieving and it is very right we should help them.
There have been delays in getting medical aid, food and clean drinking water to those who desperately need it.
That aside, my thoughts and prayers are with those people affected.
