It’s heartening that an amateur group can pack Ferneham Hall

Fantastic news that one of our local amateur musical societies was putting up ‘sold out’ signs at Ferneham Hall in Fareham recently.

The South Downe Musical Society, based at Portchester Community Centre, put on a show-stopping week of the musical Evita.

As someone who’s a great supporter of amateur groups, it’s heartening to know that a company can produce such high-quality shows with such talented performers, not only filling a theatre but having to add extra seating to cater for demand.

I’m looking forward to another first in November when the company brings the festive period forward with its production of White Christmas at the Kings in Southsea.

Count me in!
