Academics in Australia have located the ‘macho gene’ in men. Apparently, this is the protein which prompts a ‘fight or flight’ response to stress.

The report characterises women as taking a more conciliatory ‘tend or befriend’ approach to conflict.

Now I don’t know if you’ve ever visited one of the National Childbirth Trust nearly new sales attended by mums in the Portsmouth area, but I don’t see a whole lot of ‘tending and befriending’ going on.

In fact, a pregnant friend on crutches found herself slamdunked while reaching for a pre-loved Iggle Piggle. Women do their fair share of fighting and flighting in my experience…and all those readers that disagree can step outside now. I’ll take you ALL on!
