It’s not the spectacle of the Tour de France, but I love it

What a nightmare our weather must be for the organisers of the Tour of Britain – the cycling race which had its second stage cancelled on Monday due to high winds.

I’m really enjoying the coverage though, not least because of the great scenery and the chance to say ‘I’ve been there’ repetitively to my bored family.

I also like the ‘snippet’ ads about the history/development of cycling. I’ve learned all sorts of useless facts, but there’s something very rewarding about that isn’t there?

Especially on days when the action has not been forthcoming. It’s not quite the spectacle of the Tour de France, but who knows, given enough time and support, it might turn into an excellent event in its own right.
